ABOUT US ...

In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pa Mi Corazon began as a heartfelt escape from the isolation.

With everyone glued to their screens and disconnected from real-world interactions, two elderly ladies from Toti reached out for dance lessons, longing for a break.

With no studio available, we transformed a small 12-square-meter room into a warm and inviting dance space. It was a labour of love, from painting the walls to setting up the mirrors with the help of

HNO Interiors.

This space quickly became a haven where people could unplug, dance, and rediscover joy. It provided a much-needed break from the digital world and helped many find balance and happiness through dance.

We took the first step of the studio with our first collaborated brand

Cheeky Churros

Marsha and Kathleen’s story deeply moved me, especially when Marsha shared a significant chapter of her life. She had faced a major health challenge, one that could have left her confined to the safety of her home—especially during the uncertainty of COVID. But that wasn’t the life she wanted. She had overcome too much to simply sit still. She wanted to embrace joy, movement, and most of all—dance.

She reached out to us multiple times, expressing her heartfelt wish to take private dance classes with a dear friend who had supported her through her toughest moments. Each time, her determination and passion were clear. By the third call, after truly understanding the weight of what she had been through, I couldn’t say no.

The beginning of Pa Mi Corazon.

The space we had was far from perfect—shabby floors, half-broken skirting boards, and not a single mirror in sight. But none of that mattered. Every week, without fail, Marsha and Kathleen showed up, filling that empty room with laughter, music, and an unshakable spirit. In just one month, what was once just a vacant space transformed into something magical—a “Room to Dance.”

Meet Marsha & Kathleen and hear what they have to say.

OUR JOURNEY

From humble beginnings to becoming a prominent name in Durban’s dance and creative arts scene, Pa Mi Corazón’s journey is a testament to perseverance, passion, and innovation. Here are the milestones that define our growth:

2020–2021: The Start-Up Studio – Room to Dance

Pa Mi Corazón was born during a challenging global period, yet it thrived as a beacon of hope for aspiring those that had been demotivated in life from the tormenting Covid-19 Pandemic.

We opened our first studio, affectionately known as the “Room to Dance,” providing a safe space for creativity, connection, and growth amidst uncertain times.

2021–2023: Studio Expansions

Fueled by the enthusiasm and support of our growing community, Pa Mi Corazón expanded its facilities twice during this period. Each new studio offered upgraded amenities, more diverse classes, and the opportunity to host events, workshops, and collaborations that enriched Durban.

2023: Celebrating Visibility

This year marked a turning point in our journey receiving national recognition:

Get It Magazine Feature (3 months): Our story was highlighted in Get It Magazine, celebrating our impact on Durban’s scene.

InsiderSA Feature (October): We proudly shared our vision and mission on the popular South African lifestyle platform.

2024: National Media Spotlight

The Expresso Show Feature (November): Our studio and team were showcased on the much-loved Expresso Show, allowing us to inspire audiences across South Africa.

The Umhlanga Magazine Feature (December/January ‘25): As part of this esteemed publication, we celebrated our connection to the local community and our role as a cultural hub in Durban.

Heart of Visually Impaired :

At Pa Mi Corazón, we believe dance is for everyone. In October 2024, we proudly worked with the KZN Deaf and Blind Society to offer dance classes for the visually impaired—a first for our studio and a powerful step in breaking barriers.

This initiative wasn’t just about movement; it was about empowerment, connection, and showing that dance goes beyond sight—it’s a feeling. Guided by our passionate instructor, participants discovered the joy of rhythm and self-expression, proving that nothing can dim the human spirit.

2025: New Developments and Collaborations

As we step into 2025, Pa Mi Corazón is excited to embark on new projects, partnerships, and innovations. From introducing new dance programs to collaborating with local and international artists, we are committed to pushing boundaries and uplifting the hearts around SA.
